Before The Whistle: Arsenal v Fulham
Written by Drew Heatley on 25th August 2023
OK, let’s go again. No signings have been made, but at least wounds have been licked.
We follow up our heavy derby defeat with a trip to the Emirates – ideal. But stranger things have happened than a Marco Silva-led Fulham side getting a result against Arsenal.
Silva himself says Calvin Bassey will get his first start after Tim Ream’s red card last week. He’ll likely partner Issa Diop, who’ll be looking to make amends after his clanger gifted the Bees their first goal of the afternoon on Saturday.
In the middle, Joao Palhinha’s been training all week – and you’d not bet against him returning to the starting XI. Willian is a “slight doubt”, so Bobby De Cordova-Reid will probably keep his starting berth.
With Mitro gone, it’s between Vinicius and Jimenez to lead the line. The latter struggled against Brentford, so could the former come in to claim another Premier League scalp?
This game, and our subsequent trip to the Etihad, are ones we’re not expected to get anything from. Let’s upset the apple cart. You Whites.
