Before The Whistle: Fulham v Liverpool
Written by Drew Heatley on 24th January 2024
History awaits for those brave enough to seize it.
We’ve had plenty of iconic nights at Craven Cottage over the years – and we can reel them off whenever we’re asked. Juventus. Hamburg. Derby County. And more. On Wednesday, we’re asking for one more – one that would send us to only our second domestic final in our history.
Will Silva opt for Tom Cairney alongside Palhinha? Or go for the safer option of Harrison Reed? Will he give Kenny Tete the nod? Or continue with Timothy Castagne, who’s impressed in the Dutchman’s absence? Will Bobby De Cordova-Reid get the chance of redemption after his Anfield indecision? Or will former Liverpool winger Harry Wilson get the opportunity to sink a dagger into the heart of his ex-employer?
Those are the big questions ahead of the biggest single game in Marco’s tenure.
Liverpool, meanwhile could welcome back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who’s been out since the start of the month, while Dominik Szoboszlai is also said to be close to a return. Either or both men would make a tough task a lot harder.
But to be the best, you have to beat the best. And nothing worth doing comes easy. Regardless of the result, Wednesday is a night to be proud of Marco Silva and the boys, for giving us another night like this. And another chance to believe. It’s on every single one of us there to make sure the atmosphere suits the occasion. You Whites.
