Player ratings Manchester United 1-0 Fulham

Look – you win some, you lose some. I’m not going all doom and gloom on matchday one. I saw enough last night to know we’ll be more than fine this term – but as Marco says, we need those additions through the door. Onwards.
Bernd Leno
Some huge saves to keep us in the game. Scuffed a clearance but still immoveable. 7/10
Kenny Tete
Our best player in first half on what was his 100th appearance in white. It’s your move, Castagne. 8/10 – man of the match
Calvin Bassey
Good first half but found it tougher in the second. He was turned by Garnacho on 79 minutes for an ultimately missed opportunity, and then that horror show on 93 minutes. He’ll be OK. 5/10
Issa Diop
Did OK, to be honest. He’ll probably be happy Bassey did him a solid and took his customary per-game error. 7/10
Antonee Robinson
An attacking threat and good in defence. Great on 68 minutes at back post to deny United. Comfortably our best defender. 7/10
Sasa Lukic
He’s like a boiled chicken breast with no seasoning. There must be more to his game. Pure protein. 5/10
Andreas Pereira
His new hair was the most interesting thing about him. Absolutely criminal decision to not thread through Iwobi in a move that would’ve almost certainly put us ahead and changed the game. Hall of shame stuff. 4/10
Emile Smith Rowe
Some neat touches, but we want more. We need more! And fast. But he’ll come good, that much is clear. 6/10
Adama Traore
A dangerous man for most of the game. He’s going to be a start this term – and rightly so. I can’t wait for Adama szn. 8/10
Alex Iwobi
Industrious, but not influential. We’d be raving if he’d bagged a second consecutive Old Trafford winner, though. 6/10
Rodrigo Muniz
He needs everyone else to fire for him to fire. Is that a problem? I’d wager that it could be. 6/10
Substitutes
Tom Cairney
Subbed on for Smith Rowe on 64 minutes.
Turned by Fernandez to spark the winner. A tough night. 5/10
Harry Wilson
Subbed on for Traore on 78 minutes.
He tried! 6/10
Raul Jimenez
Subbed on Muniz on 78 minutes.
Fine. 5/10
Harrison Reed and Jay Stansfield
Subbed on for Pereira and Lukic on 90+1.
Can’t be fairly rated.
