Before The Whistle: Fulham v Brentford

Written by Drew Heatley on 3rd November 2024

Ooh – this is gonna be tasty.

Say what you want about Brentford, it’s good to have a proper rival in the same league. And when it’s under the lights at Craven Cottage it’s extra special.

That’s exactly what we’re getting on Monday – and a win over our rivals would see us leapfrog our opponents and maybe reach as high as eighth in the League. But, as many have put it, this is simply a ‘must-not-lose’ game. It’d ruin the week, so a draw at the minimum is vital.

We’ll be buoyed by the return of Joachim Andersen at the back, though Issa Diop put in a solid performance while deputising at Goodison Park. Knowing Marco, it’s likely to be the only change to the starting XI, despite ongoing grumbles about the midfield.

And despite growing calls for Reiss Nelson to start on the wing. The Arsenal loanee continued to impress against Everton and amid growing concerns about Adam Traore’s end product (once more), many would like him in from the start.

So, as derby day approaches, here’s to the games that make the season so exciting. Let’s hope we still feel that way on Tuesday morning. You Whites.
