Before The Whistle: Crystal Palace v Fulham

Written by Drew Heatley on 8th November 2024

League position aside, this one will be anything but easy.

It might have taken us all week to come down from the ceiling, but thankfully Marco and the boys got straight back to work the morning after Brentford were put to the sword.

We head to Selhurst Park to face a Crystal Palace side that, after a rough start, is now unbeaten in two, including their first win of the campaign.

We weakened the Eagles in the summer by snatching Joachim Andersen from them – the Dane returns to his old stomping ground on Saturday and will be looking to put in a solid performance.

The burning question as it relates to the starting XI is will Monday’s hero Harry Wilson feature from kick-off? Marco says he’s pushing, Brentford brace aside, because “He has the capacity to smell the right moments to get into the box and score”. Silva’s shown he isn’t averse to shaking it up on the wings, but dislodging Emile Smith Rowe in the 10 would be another prospect entirely. We don’t have long to find out.

Such strength in depth is a decent headache to have, and apart from Sasa Lukic, who’s still out with a shoulder injury, we’re at full strength (well, Marco didn’t mention Carlos Vinicius, but I’m not entirely convinced he realises he’s still at the club!).

There are just three points between us and fourth, but with a congested group of five ahead of us all likely to pick up points this weekend, we need all three points if we want to keep up. Another nice headache to have. You Whites.
