Before The Whistle: Fulham v Arsenal
Written by Drew Heatley on 6th December 2024
‘Tis the season for thick and fast games. And don’t we love it?
This game is one in the eye for the “we play 38 games, who cares about the order?” brigade. To play Arsenal then Liverpool in consecutive games is a stinker, but our three points on Thursday puts us in a strong position. And, of course, we know how to get a result against the Gunners at the Cottage.
Moreso this season than ever before, of course, having added Emile Smith Rowe to our ranks, and Alex Iwobi being in the form of his life.
We welcome back Sasa Lukic to the centre of the park on Sunday, in a move that’s likely to see Iwobi move back onto the wing, despite another strong performance from our Swiss Army Knife against the Seagulls.
There’ll still be a place for Harry Wilson, though, with Reiss Nelson ineligible against his parent club, though the hamstring injury he sustained on Thursday would have likely ruled him out anyway.
Joachim Andersen is still out, so Issa Diop is set to continue alongside Calvin Bassey. They’ll have their hands full against an Arsenal side looking to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the table.
If it’s not too obvious a point to make: we should fear nothing about this game. The boys are flying – anything could happen. COYW.
