Before The Whistle: Fulham v Bournemouth
Written by Drew Heatley on 28th December 2024
Let’s have this right. We’re flying. We’re unbeaten in six, we’re eighth in the league – and we’re eighth in table for 2024 with 13 wins.
It’s been a hell of a year for Marco Silva’s boys, and they’ll want to end it in the most positive way possible following our boxing day triumph against Chelsea. Leapfrogging Bournemouth, another side having quite the campaign, and surpassing 30 points before the year’s out is the perfect way to do it.
Injury-wise, it’s as you were with no progress and no fresh concerns, according to Silva. But don’t expect another five-at-the-back masterclass at home against our peers. We could have an XI that’s closer to the one that took to the pitch against Southampton – hopefully with different results.
Whether that includes Josh King is anyone’s guess. But with Emile Smith Rowe still sidelined, there are places up for grabs.
Joachim Andersen returned to the starting line–up against Chelsea in that back five; it was a clever way to slot the Dane back in without dropping Diop. It’s safe to say he impressed enough to continue in defence if Silva so chooses. Watch that space.
Win, lose, or draw, it’d be tough to take the shine off this year. But with this side, there’s no way they’ll be gunning for anything less than three points. You Whites.
