Before The Whistle: Brighton and Hove Albion v Fulham
Written by Drew Heatley on 7th March 2025

So, here we have two clubs punching above their weight ready to slug it out for a place in Europe.
And even though we seem to be the fighter landing the knock-out blow in many of our recent matches, you’d be foolish for thinking we’re not in for a hell of a battle at the AmEx on Saturday – Brighton are in the middle of a three-game winning streak.
We’re also missing Sasa Lukic through suspension. The Serbian has been an integral part of everything good that we’ve been doing this season, and his absence will force a midfield reshuffle.
His shoulder injury earlier this season saw Sander Berge and Andreas Pereira shore up the base of midfield, but the Brazilian’s recent performances will no doubt see him loathe to take that mantle up again. However, this looks like the likeliest option providing Emile Smith Rowe is fit enough to start.
Another likely absentee is Adam Traore, who came off injured at Old Trafford in the FA Cup last weekend. We’re a bit pushed for wingers, and an inverted Ryan Sessegnon has been mentioned more than once. I can’t imagine too many people against giving that a bash.
We’re evenly matched with the Seagulls. Just a point separates us in the league and we’ve both taken 12 points in our last six games. But a win would see us leapfrog our rival into those European places with 10 cup finals left to play – and that’s before we even allow ourselves to think about actual cup finals.
It’s mid-March and there’s still so much to play for. What a time to be alive. You Whites.
