It was an odd feeling at full-time at the AmEx. A feeling that was so familiar it was almost comforting. We’ll go again, sure, but once again it’s a reminder of the work needed if we’re to reach the next rung.
Bend Leno
Almost got to Pedro’s penalty, which would’ve capped a magnificent week for him. 7/10
Antonee Robinson
A back five doesn’t get the best out of Jedi. Part of a failed experiment. 6/10
Calvin Bassey
Not much to note yesterday. Could’ve been more aware of Brighton’s opener, but wasn’t the only culprit. 6/10
Joachim Andersen
Was fuming after Reed conceded then penalty, but we were let off many times before that. Need him to put in a string of performances soon. 6/10
Issa Diop
Only gets a look in during our 5ATB experiment. Couple of errors. 6/10
Timothy Castagne
Surprises me with his adaptability. Set Iwobi on his way for our goal. 6/10
Sander Berge
Missed his regular midfield partner but still showed moments of class. 7/10
Andreas Pereira
Forced to fill in further back due to Lukic’s suspension. It’s stunted his season and yesterday was no different. 6/10
Emile Smith Rowe
Another ineffective outing – a shame considering we needed a bit more or an attacking spark. 6/10
Alex Iwobi
Wonderful vision for the assist. Back to his best after some fatigue-hit performances. 8/10 – man of the match
Raul Jimenez
A striker’s finish. Increasingly makes his £5m price tag look like great business. 7/10
Substitutes
Rodrigo Muniz (69 minutes for Jimenez)
The customary swap up top failed to produce what was needed. 6/10
Harrison Reed (82 minutes for Pereira)
Will only be remembered for the penalty. Pedro played him. A level below what we need. 5/10
Willian (82 minutes for Smith Rowe)
Put on 15 minutes too late – could’ve been what we needed, along with Sess. 6/10
Ryan Sessegnon (89 for Iwobi)
Not on long enough. That’s on Marco.
